The profession

The job, day to day

Today's buildings, shops and villas feature aluminium windows and doors, shopfronts and façades clad in composite panels such as Alucobond. The aluminium joiner takes measurements, cuts and assembles the profiles, fits the glazing and installs the units. The joiner also clads façades and signage, a fast-growing skill.

The course teaches you to take accurate measurements, read a cutting list and use the tools for cutting and assembling profiles. You make sliding and opening frames, doors and shopfronts, fit glazing and seals, then learn on-site installation. The second part is devoted to Alucobond: marking out, routing, folding and fixing panels onto a frame.

You leave able to make and install aluminium joinery and carry out façade cladding, for a company or for your own clients.
