The job, day to day
Images from the sky are captivating: they elevate a wedding, showcase a plot of land or a villa, track progress on a building site and give scale to a music video or an advert. A drone pilot knows how to prepare a flight, fly with precision, capture smooth shots and bring the aircraft back safely.
The course starts with the drone itself: its components, batteries, settings and maintenance. You then learn safety rules and flight regulations, mission planning and weather assessment. Flying practice takes up a large share of the course, from basic manoeuvres to cinematic shots, followed by aerial photography, video and image processing.
In three months, you can deliver a complete aerial service. You can work for an agency, a production company or a construction firm, or offer your own services.
